Description
The Bhavishya Purana is one of the eighteen Mahapuranas, a genre of ancient Indian scriptures and texts. It is traditionally attributed to the sage Vyasa and is written in Sanskrit. The name “Bhavishya” means “future,” and as the title suggests, this Purana contains prophecies and predictions about future events. However, it also includes a mix of mythology, cosmology, genealogies, and religious teachings. The text is divided into four parts: Brahma Parva, Madhyama Parva, Pratisarga Parva, and Uttara Parva. It covers topics such as rituals, vratas (vows), dharma (duty), and the worship of various deities, particularly Lord Vishnu, Shiva, and the Sun God (Surya). The Bhavishya Purana is unique for its emphasis on future events and its blend of historical and mythological narratives.
